I have 35 years of experience in the Colton Joint Unified School District, progressing from a substitute teacher to Principal roles. I taught Math and AVID at middle and high school levels and served as a baseball coach. As an administrator, I was an Assistant Principal at multiple schools before becoming Principal at Ruth O. Harris Middle School (2006–2015), where we implemented Professional Learning Communities and achieved significant API growth. I then served as Principal at Bloomington High School (2015–2021), focusing on staff relationships and developing a new Mission and Vision during distance learning during the COVID pandemic.. Since July 2021, I have been the Principal of Washington High School, embracing new challenges and opportunities, working with “At-promise” students. Washington High School has five programs including, Opportunity Middle School grades 7 and 8, Opportunity High School grades 9 and 10, Opportunity SDC grades 7 thru 12, Course Based Elementary virtual Independent Study grade 3 thru 6, and Virtual Secondary Independent Study grades 7 thru 12,using the Edgenuity Online platform. In June of 2023, we received a six year WASC accreditation from our WASC Revalidation Visit in March of 2023. We are currently using our WASC Action plan and our Single Plan for Student Achievement to continue to improve our school.
