The OSS environment coexist with the Guardian environment and provide a fully independent alternative to it. Open System Services interoperates with the NonStop Kernel and makes use of many of its uniq features, such as fault tolerant and parallel precessing.OSS conforms to industry standards that define requirements for open computing systems and portable applications. These standards include the specification for such features as application program interfaces (APIs), run time libraries, a command interprater, and user command and utilities.One can access OSS in NSK by running OSS Shell. The OSS subsytem provides Unix-compliant programmatic interfaces and the utilities on nonStop systems. OSS implements most of the common APIs (POSIX 1003.1) and most of the common utilities (POSIX 1003.2) Platformwindows 7, Windows XP.

Customers include the Stock Exchange and the ATM's which uses this particular kernel to support 24x7 service. I work on NSK BATs. It's a basic testing done for Non stop kernel. The tests cases are automated using TACL/TAL and C. Developers after including the fix run the tests and takes my support in analyzing the failure. My job is to analyse the failure if any occurs and if the failure is due to the code, I need to fix it.
