Enhancing Public Diplomacy is one of the EU Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy´s five priorities: "The EU will enhance its strategic communications, investing in and joining-up public diplomacy across different fields, in order to connect EU foreign policy with citizens and better communicate it to our partners.” The EU as a stronger global actor. It highlights the EU´s focus on diplomacy: “Its joint foreign and security policy, designed to resolve conflicts and foster international understanding, is based on diplomacy, while trade, aid, security and defence all play a complementary role.” Education, crime-fighting and human rights are also described as key in EU global relations. The project will build upon the policy-oriented partnerships shaped through the on-going ICI+ funded project "Public Diplomacy and Outreach in India and the SAARC". It will focus on the maintaining and expanding networks through which mutual understanding and the promotion of shared values can be channelled in line with a modern public diplomacy approach.Under this project, the scope of these EU days will widen up the interaction with academic institutions and students in order to give them an insight into the EU project, its founding principles and policies. The project will design a package of presentations with different themes (EU project, EU Delegation activities in India, Research and Innovation, Human rights, Governance, EU-India Partnership, Sectoral themes such as water, energy, climate change, urbanization). As a National Expert from India to provide overview of India and UK in education and research with a focus on UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) Programme.- to provide experience and technical knowledge in key spheres such as research, innovation, education, and training in India, and exemplify them in high-level contributions through stakeholder discussions, reporting, analysis and assessment. - to maintain strong relationships and effective partnerships with key stakeholders.

The recipient of the Peter Jarvis CONFINTEA scholarship, Sanjeev Roy from India, was selected to design a programme of recognition, validation and accreditation of prior learning for the National Literacy Mission of the Government of India.I. To prepare a draft programme on RVA for India which may be relevant for other developing countries as well. II. To acquire relevant knowledge on the subject for capacity building which will be used for imparting training in developing countries.
