Nimblefish Technologies is a San Francisco startup specializing in automated micromarketing engines for Fortune 500 companies such as Nike, AT&T, Best Buy, and Marriot. I was accountable to the EVP of technology for all software initiatives, and directly managed a team of 12 engineers. I led the architecture and development of several Flex based RIA products, including a sophisticated content manager, a graphical dashboard, and an online variable video authoring application called Composer. I personally developed the Vision Player, a Flex based dynamic audio/video compositing player, used to render interactive marketing presentations created in Composer. As technical team lead of the Platform Engineering group, I was responsible for the development of the core infrastructure upon which client solutions were built, as well as directly interacting with large clients for architecting custom solutions. The core platform was a Spring DI/Tomcat based solution, using a custom-built workflow management system backed by Oracle and a cluster of data nodes. I successfully managed a team of 3 engineers, personally wrote several important subsystems, and championed the use of agile software development methodologies across the organization. My key accomplishment during this time was to lead the scaling of the workflow system from a few hundred thousand prospects in 2005 to over 100 million today.

As a software engineer, I architected, designed, and developed a high volume Internet payments processing infrastructure from the ground up. As of Q4 2004, an annualized $1.5 billion flowed through this enterprise platform supporting eight FDC business units. Learned to effectively work in a high pressure startup environment with constantly changing requirements and “impossible” deadlines. Effectively communicated with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders such as Product, Marketing, and Merchant Services to consistently meet or exceed business expectations. Consistently applied Agile Software Development Methodologies such as XP and Scrum in order to ensure proper prioritization and coordination of development efforts. Designed and developed automated XML based testing framework to facilitate high code quality, predictability, and frequent refactoring of code base.

Responsible for installation, integration, and maintenance of TCP/IP network, Windows NT and Linux web server platforms, SMTP server, and Microsoft SQL Server cluster. Worked as a consultant for small business clients wishing to offer goods and services online. Implemented Cold Fusion, Verity, and Cybercash based solutions for several catalog based electronic commerce web sites.
