Recruiting and supervising volunteer mentors, recruiting and placing children with mentors in a long term, supportive relationship. Training and continuing support of mentors throughout their mentoring experience. Development of volunteer recruitment strategies specifically aimed at volunteers aged 16-25 to support children from single parent families needing support emotionally, socially and/or academically.

As school program coordinator I recruit, interview and train volunteers while at the same time promoting the program to Buncombe county and Asheville city schools to include children whose families are interested in having mentors work with their children at the school during the school year. Our program matches volunteer mentors with children to build a long term, personal friendship with the purpose of supporting that child to find and nurture their potential, build their confidence, resilience and ability to handle life's challenges in a healthy way.As community outreach, I promote our program throughout the community to partner organizations, schools, churches, local businesses. This outreach serves the purpose of sharing our opportunities with volunteers, connecting families to our mentors and raising funds to continue our work within the community.

Asheville City Schools Foundation, Vance Elementary

As a VISTA with Asheville City Schools Foundation working at Vance Elementary, I am working to increase the academic success of students living in poverty through the development of programs that provide additional academic and emotional support for students. Parent outreach and engagement is a big part of building a positive relationship with the family and the school. I am also building community relationships that increase access to resources for basic needs; academic, emotional and physical.

Organize basic Hunt Seat riding program in a summer camp format. Supervise counselors during lessons and manage daily care of 9 horses and equipment.

Sales support for OR implementation of product and present as company representative during surgical cases in 2 regions of the US. Travel to hospitals within 75 mile radius in the CA region. Assisted surgeons and OR staff with the preparation and set up of Kyphon instrumentation and product, advised hospital staff in regards to OR equipment necessary for patient positioning as well as guiding the radiology staff in the positioning of imaging device to give the surgeon optimal visualization of surgical site and delivery of Kyphon product. Directed surgeon during procedure in regards to correct sequence and placement of Kyphon tools, problem solving to achieve ideal balloon placement, coaching the surgical technologist through the cement mixing and delivery device preparation. Also present for surgeon training seminars and office visits to educate office staff and promote Kyphon products.
