I strive to ensure that women are offered holistic and evidence based antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, promoting normal birth and supporting women and their families to achieve the birth experience they desire. I am passionate about woman-centred, midwifery led models of care that promote autonomy for midwives and informed choice for women. Having experienced continuity of care throughout my own pregnancy and birth, I have first-hand experience and appreciation of the importance of “knowing your midwife” as a pregnant woman and new mother. As an academic my interest lies in promoting knowledge and confidence in midwifery students so as they can become competent and compassionate midwives capable of promoting and advancing the practice of midwifery through the provision of evidence-based woman-centred care. My research interests lie in Implementation Science and the development of tools and strategies to enable midwives to facilitate change within the clinical setting to ensure up to date evidenced-based practice.
