Overseeing provision of public health expertise to the CQC's contributions to Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA), a cross-inspectorate assessment process coordinated by the Audit Commission. Also contributing public health / CAA perspectives to the development of new CQC regulatory frameworks, including CQC's role in regulation of emergency preparedness

Designing and implementing the annual health check core standards assessment

Assessment framework development for safety in the NHS mainly developmental standards but also core standards; worked with the NPSA on a 7 Steps self-assessment tool

Secondment from the Healthcare Commission to Cabinet Office to manage public consultation on the Regulators' Compliance Code and its passage through both houses of Westminster Parliament.

All aspects of policy evaluation consultancy, tendering to project management (including budget management) and client liaison for e.g. an evaluation of the costs and benefits and UK capacity to deliver rehabilitation services for the Association of British Insurers; review and survey of directors’ role in relation to safety (HSE), analysis of how employers’ liability insurance incentivises business (HSE), etc.

Several jobs with 5 years inspecting a range of industries, and 1.5 years policy work including a 6 month secondment to the European Commission.Industries inspected included for example health services, local authorities and other service sectors, construction, major hazard sites and a range of general manufacturing sites.Serious incidents investigated included fatalities, one of a patient.
