I teach approximaitly 30 students in the Sterile Processing program. This Program is designed for students that are new to the field or current Sterile Processing Techs that want an in depth education of the field. I teach: Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Phys., Professional Standards & Regs., the processing methods from Decontamination to Sterilization and Storage, Inventory Management, Patient Care Equipment, Quality Assurance, and Human Relation Skills for Sterile Processing Techs. For the students that go out to externship I teach a review class to keep them focused so that they will understand what they learn in the field and pass the Certification exam offered from IAHCSMM.

Supervise a staff of 19 FTE's. Watch costs. Maintian proper inventory controls. Promote continued education for staff. Provide inservice opportunites for staff as needed. Act a resouce for staff. Complete QA reports for departmemt. Coach and counsel staff as needed. Monitor and prioritize daily work load and staff. Make staff work and duty schedules.

I teach a Sterile Processing course designed for Sterile Processing Techs already working in the field. The purpose of this course is to confirm good and safe work practices the students are using, clarify ideas, standards, or work practices they are unsure of, and introduce concepts, ideas, and work practices they may not be aware of and should. The ultimate goal is to help these students pass the Certification exam offered by IAHCSMM.
