My name is Sara Veitch. I am currently a full time student at Mount Royal University, Majoring in Business Management with a Minor in Sports and Recreation Management. For the past 6 years I've worked for the City of Calgary as a Recreational Programmer. I've programmed for a variety of programs including; Day Camp volunteers, Day Camp leaders, Playschool and Calgary After School. My work experience has provided me with a variety of skills such as; leadership, communication, teamwork, organization and time management. My schooling has allowed me to further build these skills as well with gaining knowledge in; marketing, Microsoft programs, finance, accounting and management.

I’m currently a part time Recreation Programmer with the City of Calgary. I’ve programmed for multiple programs including; Day Camps, Playschool and Calgary Afterschool. I am responsible for helping to plan the day to day task at the program. Throughout the week I provide support for all my leaders/teachers. Through active engagement in programs I help role model positive leadership skills. If ever a leader/teacher is unable to work, I step in and take the lead role in facilitating the program. I do all the supply shopping to ensure the leaders/teachers have what they need to run a smooth program. I am also responsible for responding to any customer concerns or questions. Through problem solving techniques and positivity I help ensure customers are satisfied. Overall my main goal is to ensure that the customers and leaders/teachers are having a positive experience at our programs.

Our team works with the families to help change unhealthy attitudes about food and activity. As an Activity Leader my main role is to lead the kids through a bi-weekly activity session. Each week we work on building fundamental movement skills that make exercising easier. I follow a weekly pre-planned program, while putting my own spin on the lesson to help keep activities fun and engaging. Overall my main goal is to help change the children's mindset, so they look forward to partaking in physical activities.
