As a Medical Case Manager for the Cascade AIDS Project, I provided coordinated, strengths-based social services to individuals living with HIV through the continuum of HIV-related and other relevant systems of care. I worked with People Living with HIV (PLWH) to create service plans, provide advocacy, information and referral services, and worked closely with providers to facilitate client care and resolve short-terms needs. Most importantly, I helped clients gain and maintain access to primary medical care and treatment to work toward improved health outcomes, while also promoting knowledge and skill building to enhance self efficacy as clients navigated living with HIV within complicated and intersecting systems.

Kampala, Uganda; Kabale, Uganda

As a research intern for the Global Livingston Institute I worked with the organization to achieve their mission of positively impacting the health and vitality of communities in East Africa through research, idea exchange, and knowledge sharing. Specifically, I organized and completed a research evaluation of the National Board of Certified Counselors' Mental Health Facilitator (MHF) Training Program to assess its successes and challenges in the rural Lake Bunyonyi region of Southern Uganda. To do this, I traveled to the rural villages surrounding Lake Bunyonyi to conduct one-on-one interviews with participants from the MHF Program. Traveling methods included boat, car, motorcycle, and often on foot travel. After transcribing the interviews, interview data was compiled and analyzed to create recommendations for the NBCC and the GLI for future implementation of the MHF Program in the Lake Bunyonyi region. This research analysis was recently published in the Journal of Psychology in Africa

As the Office Manager for Jefferson Street Counseling and Consulting I was responsible to foresee all business operation and management. I managed the accounting duties for six distinct businesses, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Quickbooks account management. My office and clerical duties included scheduling, billing, marketing and advertising, managing all incoming and outgoing telephone calls, electronic and paper submission of insurance claims, HIPAA compliance, website design, filing and organization, supply management, and planning and facilitating all business meetings. As Office Manager, I was also responsible to oversee and manage the daily duties of the front office assistant, a part-time receptionist. During my time at Jefferson Street Counseling and Consulting, I created and implemented new business models and procedures to reflect technological advances, including updating our software management programs and creating a virtually paper-free environment.

As the Development and Special Events Assistant I focused on fundraising and event planning. Specific responsibilities included planning and organizing community events, including the Pierce County AIDS Walk and the International "Dining Out for Life" campaign in Tacoma, WA. Duties included planning all event logistics from securing event sites to ensuring adequate number of supplies, working with local sponsors, marketing and advertising, and managing all data input, including gift acknowledgment and tax receipts. As part of the development team, I was also responsible to plan and attend community outreach events, educating the public about the role of the Pierce County Aids Foundation in the community, services provided by the foundation, and updated health information on safer sex practices and STI prevention.
