Since November 2010, I have managed the Simply Sweet candy stand at The Lancaster Central Market. My duties included: purchasing and stocking inventory, employee management, payroll and more. While working at Simply Sweet, I began working on some candy buffets for customers outside of market. I was able to use my creative skills to serve the needs of our customers in a new and different way. During the time that I have managed the stand, I have been responsible for all aspects of the business and have treated it as if it were my own.

I work closely with Lori Witmer of Wildflowers by Design to creative unique party and wedding florals. As Lori's assistant, I do whatever is necessary to complete the design, setup and final details of each event.

I sold high quality fashion jewelry at in-home parties for lia sophia. I enjoyed the flexibility of being my own boss and working my own hours. Working in the direct-selling industry taught me many great skills, such as: being consistent, working hard, setting goals and speaking in front of groups. I valued this time with other "co-workers," who have become life-long friends.

Working for the Rohrer Family Farm was my first introduction to The Lancaster Central Market. I was able to use my creative skills in floral design to help arrange flowers for customers through loose bunches and artistic arrangements. I also worked from the Rohrer's farm creating wedding florals, dried wreaths and holiday decorations. My customer service and people skills were greatly sharpened from working in the market environment.

As Assistant to the Plant Buyer, I worked on purchasing perennial plants for the 7 greenhouses. I helped with purchase orders and inputting data into the computer system. Traveling between stores, I helped where needed and delivered product as necessary. I planned trainings and trips to suppliers, as well as getting new information and signage to the stores. I put together the annual Pond Tour that encompassed three different counties/areas.

As the Assistant Greenhouse Manager I worked closely with the Greenhouse Manager at the Lititz location of SKH. I managed crews of co-workers and delegated tasks as necessary. I left instructions for night crew members and took leadership on the sales floor. My tasks included everything from unloading trucks to watering plants and making gift baskets for holiday sales. I organized and setup interesting displays and created informative signage. I greeted and helped customers with all of their plant buying needs.
