About Sara Chenier

My love of science and learning began in childhood. As a child I was always curious, asking a lot of questions, watching the world around me, and investigating new books. I loved being in the library doing research and learning something new. It was this love of learning that gave me the courage and determination to go to college after not being able to finish high school; but, college never felt like enough for my curious mind, so I transferred to university to pursue a more extensive degree in genetics. It was during my degree that I found my passion for public health and the importance of knowledge translation for all areas of science. I switched my degree path in my second year from genetics to general biology, which allowed me to take more courses outside of my main subject. Doing this allowed me to dabble in anthropology, micro-immunology, and communication. This broader knowledge base showed me that there are often many social aspects overlooked in healthcare and bringing a broader holistic view to the table has the potential to have a big impact on global health. Today, I am continuing to better my skillset and knowledge base in my current role as a clinical research assistant, where I am learning the ins and outs of clinical research in healthcare. I am thankful I have been fortunate enough to peruse my passions thus far and look forward to having a long and rewarding career making positive changes to healthcare and research.
