Responsibilities: Dissemination of information about conservation, wildlife, and environmental sciences to a diverse group of audiences using fun and engaging storytelling techniques. Presentation of conservation education material (in English and Spanish) to guests of all ages through the Wilderness Explorer program at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Presentation of education material in both badge locations and animal habitats to inspire guests to positively impact wildlife and take conservation action. Engagement with education leadership as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Team to improve badge content and accessibility.

As an undergraduate research assistant at the Deer Laboratory at Auburn University, I have been a part of multiple research projects, including an independent research project of my own. My independent research project is looking at the efficacy of pellet count surveys for estimating the density of white-tailed deer. I have also gained experience with white-tailed deer chemical immobilization procedures, locating white-tailed deer using VHF telemetry and thermal cameras, and collaring white-tailed deer fawns during my time as an undergraduate research assistant.

Clifton Institute

For the summer of 2021, I am working on an American Kestrel GPS Tracking Project with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in collaboration with the Clifton Institute. We are deploying backpack transmitters on female kestrels to determine how they are using their territories. In addition to deploying the transmitters and downloading the subsequent GPS data, we are also conducting vegetation surveys in the potential foraging habitats of each bird.
