Conducting invasive species management tasks including:inventory of invasive species sites, application of chemical control and mechanical removals of invasive plants, monitoring of treatment sites, invasive mussel sampling, field data recording, data management, data entry into the Provincial database, planning and logistics, equipment maintenance, signage placement, and communication with community members.

Responsible for the delivery of dynamic and effective interpretive programs at the Vancouver Aquarium. The programs educate, engage and inspire the public to conserve aquatic ecosystems. Programs include but are not limited to family programs, marine mammal shows, dive presentations, animal encounters, critter corners, and discovery carts, as well as roving.

Ocean Bridge connects Canadian youth and young professionals from coast to coast to coast empowering them to take action for ocean conservation. Established in 1979, Wildlife Rescue Association of BC is a leader in the rehabilitation of wild animals in the urban environment and is committed to educating the public on how to coexist peacefully with urban wildlife. BC’s busiest wildlife rehabilitation centre, with over 5,000 animal ‘clients’ and 24,000 phone calls coming into the Wildlife Support Centre each year, located in Burnaby Lake Park in Burnaby, BC.The Wildlife Care Assistant experiences all aspects of rehabilitation from education to medical treatments, rescue planning and release! Wildlife care assistants develop skills in basic animal care, bird physiology, restraint/handling, bird identification, species specific behaviors and rescue procedures and protocols.

Research for this study relied upon the use of historical datasets, personal communications with City of Port Coquitlam staff members, aerial imagery, geographic information layers. Many of the GIS layers were provided by the City of Port Coquitlam and from the online open data access sites for pages Metro Vancouver Regional District and the Province of British Columbia.A matrix was developed for the study to assess and compare the socio-cultural and ecological value of the 63 parks within the City of Port Coquitlam. Toured hourly 20-minute walks educating the public on the local flora and fauna at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, one of the most popular tourist attractions in British Columbia.Ages of toured guests ranged from school groups to traveling seniors. Other duties included monitoring for possible hazards such as rotted trees or broken limbs, as well as initiating kids educational talks and activities.
