This Unit seeks to track and improve organizational performance by developing data and routines, identifying and building on good practices, and convening the right staff to solve problems.• Represented the IRC at key advocacy and fundraising opportunities including: presenter at the World Youth Forum, moderator for a UNGA panel on Refugee Work Rights, and standing member of the Experts’ Group on the Global Compact for Refugees.• Co-lead the ‘Covid Red-team’. This team was tasked with ‘Covid-proofing’ the IRC in a time of crisis. The team examined economic, programmatic, health and workplace implications of Covid, and charted a course for IRC to manage the crisis.• Helped design and make key decisions about IRC’s organization-wide centenary strategy. Led research teams on key external trends, such as climate change and the rise of China and drove consultation on issues such as IRCs strategy to localization.Notable projects:• Worked as research manager, advisor, and thought partner with the President and CEO for the development of the TED Talk and Book: Rescue: Refugees and the Political Crisis of our Time.• Acted as sherpa and strategist to David Miliband on the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response.

Represented and delivered key messages on behalf of the IRC at high-level UN, donor, and think tank meetings in the Middle East, Geneva, D.C., and New York.• Led the design and drafting of the IRC’s global Syria crisis advocacy strategy and country program advocacy strategies.• Developed advocacy messages for regional and international stakeholders and policy makers.Conducted research and analysis on refugee policy, humanitarian operations, humanitarian principles, and resilience to inform the IRC’s strategic policy positions.• Managed the IRC’s regional media and communications team for Syria and acted as an IRC spokesperson on humanitarian policy issues.• Chaired the advocacy working group and was a board member of the Syria INGO Regional Forum (SIRF).

• Coordinated and administered the IRC’s Iraq $4.5 million USD UNHCR-funded protection portfolio inclusive of: protection monitoring, direct legal services, advocacy and information dissemination, gender-based violence prevention and response, and community-based advocacy support.• Directly managed four senior managers, including two expatriate staff, and indirectly oversaw more than seventy program staff.• Ensured protection programs were implemented to a high standard and met stated objectives through appropriate financial planning, monitoring and oversight, compliance with UNHCR regulations, and global best practices.• Led the production of monthly analytical UNHCR protection reports, highlighting key protection issues and analyzing trends identified from protection monitoring and other key sources.• Developed and maintained effective working relationships with UNHCR, INGOs, government authorities, and other key stakeholders to ensure active coordination, collaboration, and information dissemination.• Promoted from Protection Manager in December 2011.

• Managed program development for the ACTED Middle East and North Africa region including: Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Libya, and OPT. Wrote narrative reports, concept notes, and proposals for government and multilateral organisations such as PRM, OFDA, USAID, EC, UNHCR, and UNICEF.• As a standing member of the ACTED emergency crisis team (DART), quickly mobilised responses to humanitarian crises as needed. Responded to the Libya crisis by providing on the ground support in Cairo.• Wrote and ensured submission of timely narrative reports, proposals, and concept notes for OFDA and UNHCR.• Designed surveys to conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments.
