I am a senior geoscientist at BGC Engineering and an adjunct professor in the Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia. My research background is in fluvial geomorphology with a focus on the effects of large wood on in-stream habitat. I’ve also used a combination of physical experiments and numerical modelling to develop a predictive model for bank erosion in gravel bed rivers.In my professional life I work collaboratively with clients and communities to develop pragmatic solutions to complex geohazard-related challenges. I regularly model hydrology, river hydraulics, sediment transport, and bank erosion to support hazard and risk assessments for communities and infrastructure. I also support mitigation projects for infrastructure protection as well as river restoration.
