My day-to-day tasks vary between standard permitting to compliance assistance. Within those roles, I learn and apply Air Quality Rules & Regulations. I am committed to doing my part to achieve environmental justice for the SLO County community, as it ripples into the larger role of environmental equity within the State of California and the United States. Being a part of the Engineering & Compliance Division of the APCD means taking part in battling climate change, while ensuring small businesses can flourish within the law. Through the permitting process, I have become involved in technical groups to improve my knowledge, such as those under the umbrella of the California Air Pollution Control Officer’s Association (CAPCOA). I have helped institute and lead the cannabis permitting program at the District, and plan to use that experience to assist other emerging industries/businesses in achieving compliance.When I am not reviewing permit applications or going on compliance inspections, I am leading my Division and assisting the District in modernizing existing processes and implementing streamlined document management systems and policies. Through our acquisition of Laserfiche, I have taken on the role as liaison for our Division and worked closely with our administration to digitize our work tasks.
