 Develop IACP’s legislative priorities and federal agenda.  Provide strategic advice and counsel to IACP's Board of Directors and the Office of the Executive Director on policy matters as well as issues related to Association Governance. Work with key legislative officials to advance the Association’s policy priorities. Draft Congressional testimony and prepare IACP’s President to testify.  Track and respond to federal legislative items that may impact IACP Members. Draft letters to Congress regarding IACP’s positions on key legislative proposals and actions.  Establish and foster relationships with Congressional Members and staff.  Prepare legislative reports for IACP's Board Meetings. Represent the IACP in meetings with high-level representatives on a variety of criminal justice related matters.  Prepare talking points on key issues for IACP leadership. Draft statements and write speeches on behalf of IACP.  Write and pitch press releases to members of the media. Establish and maintain relationships with major media outlets. Aid in the development and implementation of the Association’s strategic communications plan.  Manage day to day inquiries from the IACP Governing Body. Support the IACP Executive Director / CEO, Deputy Executive Director / Chief Operating Officer, and IACP President in the preparation of an agenda for the Board of Directors Meetings.  Contribute to the review and drafting of new governance materials and policies to be ratified by the IACP Board of Directors.  Assist with Board of Directors onboarding, engagement and offboarding.  Coordinate and maintain a record of action and meeting minutes from the Board of Directors meetings.  Attend Board of Directors meetings and provide support.  Assist with the management of Board of Directors lists. Assist with the management of the Association’s governance platform.  Write a monthly column for Police Chief Magazine.

International Association Of Chiefs Of Police

 Advise the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) on public affairs issues onboth a national and international level. Represent the President, Executive Committee, Board Members, and Executive Director in meetings with high-level representatives on a variety of criminal justice related matters and media activities. Provide advice and assistance in planning, organizing, and directing strategic communications plans in support of projects, programs, strategies, and the Association’s mission. Draft statements and write speeches on behalf of IACP’s President and other Association leadership. Write a monthly legislative column and President’s Message for Police Chief Magazine. Arrange media interviews and respond to requests from reporters with an appropriate IACP spokesperson. Write and pitch press releases and events to members of the media. Establish and maintain relationships with major media outlets, as well as other publicity conduits. Assist in managing IACP’s social media accounts (twitter, facebook, and blog). Coordinate and manage the development of the Association’s branding standards, policies and templates. Provide advice and assistance in planning, organizing, and directing strategic communications plans in support of projects, programs, strategies, and the Association’s mission.  Staff liaison for the Resolution Committee and Legal Officers Section Committee.  Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations.  Aid in the development and implementation of the Association’s strategic communications plans in support of projects, programs, strategies, and the Association’s mission.  Staff liaison to the IACP Resolutions Committee and the Legal Officers Section.

The Ferguson Group

 Manage portfolio consisting of municipalities and private sector and represent their interests before Members of Congress, federal agencies, and congressional staff.  Identify and analyze pending federal legislation and regulatory actions affecting clients.  Identify key grant programs for clients and provide grant writing and review assistance relating to the development and implementation of programs and projects.  Develop and maintain relationships with key Members of Congress, federal agency officials, and congressional staff. Present annual update to local elected officials, mayors, and city councils regarding federal legislative agendas. Develop talking points for local elected officials on pressing issues to use when meetings with Members of Congress, federal agency officials, and congressional staff. Lead webinars attended by mayors, city managers, and other local government officials regarding the federal budget, congressional appropriations, and federal grant opportunities.  Develop and publish the firm’s weekly report regarding the week ahead in Congress.  Manage the firm’s internal database of grant programs.  Develop and publish the firm’s weekly report on federal grant offerings and programs.  Manage and contribute to the content of the firm’s blog regarding congressional and federal agency activities.
