Member of a small team tasked with designing and implementing a training course for new arrivals to the unit. I was a Shift Supervisor responsible for ensuring all the radars, radios and navigational aids at Camp Bastion were serviceable and properly maintained. Carried out scheduled servicing, routine maintenance, site checks and fault rectification.Equipment included Watchman radar, TACAN, ILS and Cardion SSR.

I completed 18mths at Birmingham before moving to Leeds for another 18mths. I was a member of the military security force tasked to provide additional security during the Olympics and Paralympics. My primary role was to conduct personal/bag searches of women and children entering Olympic Park. I also went on to complete additional training to become a RapiScan operative so I could x-ray bags entering the premises. In my limited time off shift I completed a City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Security Guarding.

Promoted to supervise a team of four technicians, I was responsible for providing solutions to problems the network administrators of sites around the UK couldn't solve. I oversaw the professional development of my subordinates, organised social functions and developed my skills in leadership and management.

Volunteered to deploy out of trade with Joint Helicopter Force (JHF) for the experience. I was part of a small team responsible for the safety of all passengers traveling from Kandahar and Camp Bastion. This role involved giving safety briefs to all ranks, escorting passengers to/from aircraft and liaising between aircrew, passengers and the JHF Watchkeeper to ensure all personnel and cargo were handled safely and efficiently despite the operational tempo.

For 6 months during this period I was the sole administrator for an expanding IT network, responsible for the day to day management and maintenance of all workstations, servers, user accounts and peripherals for 1000 users. Subsequently responsible for improving and upgrading the site, liaising with with external agencies such as Global Crossing for assistance with expanding our footprint.

Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing all fixed and deployable IT systems for Tactical Communications Wing. Completed two three month UK based deployments which included the Windows 2000 upgrade for all units around the UK. Completed several Microsoft courses. Mentored a team of six new arrivals. Designed and implemented a new asset tracking system.

I was briefly employed here whilst waiting to complete the RAF application process. Duties included serving customers, photocopying, binding, collating and delivering documents locally.
