Working in the Molecular department using the QIAsymphony, QIAgility, Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast Real-Time PCR system, QIAGEN Rota-Gene Q, Abbott m2000, Tecan Evo and the Roche COBAS TaqMan 48. I process blood samples for the detection of Influenza A & B, RSV, Adenovirus, CMV, EBV, and Paraflu 1, 2 & 3 as well as HIV, Hepatitis B & C viral loads. Samples are also processed for the detection of Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.

Process blood samples using the Abbott m2000 for the detection of HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C viral loads. Also process blood samples using PCR for the detection of a number of viruses including CMV, EBV and HSV. Competent using the QIAsymphony, Roche Lightcycler and Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast Real-Time PCR system.

Trainee Biomedical Scientist, completing IBMS Competence Registration portfolio. I received specialist training in organism identification, performing antibiotic susceptibility tests, assessing the significance of organisms identified, completing reports and had extensive training in the virology section of the department. Competent in a wide number of techniques including ELISA tests to detect various antibodies in the serum of patients, complement fixation tests and agglutination tests. I have experience using machines such as the Vidas, DSX automated ELISA system and the Dynex Magellon Biosciences. Also training in Serology and Molecular Biology. Extended and improved many skills including microbiology knowledge, working as part of a team, time management and communication skills both within the department and other areas of the hospital.
