The American Chemistry Council (ACC) represents a diverse set of companies engaged in the business of chemistry. This organization works to solve some of the biggest challenges facing our nation and our world through advocacy, member engagement, political advocacy, communications, and scientific research. - Used data to create a story on the current state of sustainability in the chemical industry, which was later presented to the Board. Focused on member engagement in sustainability tools/resources.- Increased participation from ~20% to ~70% through regular newsletters and informational webinars.- Supported team in various ad hoc projects which include streamlining membership communication, meeting and PowerPoint preparation, and maintaining contact distribution lists of 15+ strategy working groups.

Coordinated small tabling educational events with local community programs. Held a large-scale educational event to provide access to our recycling sorting facility to the community. Promoted outreach and education of recycling through social media posts. Heightened value by pioneering an innovative process to streamline the creation of relevant informational materials. This included activities for students to use when visiting the facility and promotional materials for the company.Streamlined the social media programs used by RDS. Boosted engagement from an average of 50 views to 300 per post.

Organize meetings and plan content for student workdays, club plans, and manage the budget. Provide regular care for garden and livestock (chickens). Harvest food and distribute it to the local food bank and campus dining facilities. Coordinate events designed to raise awareness of a healthy lifestyle and educate the community on the benefits of organic food. Along with managing the student garden, I ran the social media accounts for the garden.

Partner with college faculty to learn technology programs, then teach usage for classroom application. These programs include GIS and Storymaps by GIS. Aid faculty in designing technology curriculum to educate students.

Organize logistics for student-run service trips. Create learning objectives, coordinate service locations, projects with local nonprofit organizations, and lodging for a week-long trip. Outlined and preplanned the entire trip and acted as the leader and guide for students attending the trip.

As an intern in the Sustainability Department, Sarah had several responsibilities. She worked on various projects, including collecting, sorting, and shipping supplies from over 30 nursing units for our mission donation program, and researching and organizing initially our live Earth Day events for seven hospitals, then pivoting with us to help conceptualize electronic options for an Earth Day celebration in the time of Covid-19.
