I am an experienced Deputy Head with a demonstrated history of developing effective pedagogical practice derived from current research and driving school improvement. I am passionate about primary education, particularly how to translate the wealth of worldwide research into the classroom in a way that works for both pupils and professionals. Over the years, I have successfully developed and implemented research-based practice on, for example, solutions for dyspraxia, growth mindset, mastery, pupil leadership and, currently, knowledge-rich, memory-friendly lessons. I stay on top of current research and am aware when ideas have been disproved or need rethinking. As part of my Master's degree at the University of Cambridge, I developed a pupil social research group which continues to grow in success and meaningfully involves pupils in the decision-making of school leaders. This is a particular passion and something I would love to see in other schools, happy to share my experiences and give advice. In addition to leading teaching and learning, I am also assessment lead, English lead and PPG lead and, in these roles respectively, am currently focused on the use of a dialogic pedagogy for AfL, becoming a reading school and powerful knowledge for all pupils.
