I try to foster a safe and comfortable learning environment in which students can share their work and explore new writing techniques. My job is to peel back the layers of the writing process in a way that demystifies process and craft, making it less daunting and more accessible. Writing is a skill set, not an innate talent, and I believe that everyone, with hard work and dedication, can improve. Students should leave my class with a deeper appreciation for writing, as well as practical skills like self-editing, which will serve them well throughout their college careers — and beyond.
