As a Senior Planner in the Community Design Group, I performed advanced professional work related to a variety of planning projects. Each month, I was responsible for reviewing re-zoning requests, conducting field inspections, and writing staff recommendations for multiple districts in Hamilton County. I also reviewed development plans for compliance with zoning requirements and provided urban design advice to property owners, developers and architects for projects within these districts. I managed complex planning projects, including the recent development of a new overlay zone for a major commercial corridor. I created the graphics illustrating all of the urban design components of the overlay zone. I organized public meetings, prepared and gave presentations to elected officials and the general public. I also served as the RPA liaison for a city-wide initiative to develop new stormwater regulations. As part of this project, I was responsible for scheduling public meetings, making public presentations, coordinating with the City’s Water Quality Division on planning-related issues, participating in Advisory Committee meetings, and editing the draft ordinance. Last year, Chattanooga was awarded an EPA Brownfields Area-wide Planning Grant. I assisted the management of that project, which included working with consultants, the community, and other partnering agencies.I conducted research and prepared reports for various land use and urban design issues. Most recently, I assisted in the Chattanooga Form-Based Code project. While working with City of Chattanooga staff and a consultant team, a new zoning called Form-Based Code was developed for five Downtown neighborhoods. I continue to represent the RPA on the implementation and permit review team for all Form-Based Code zoned projects.

I managed the CHCRPA 2011 Excellence Awards project Team;Assisted with the writing and editing of the 2010 Alton Park Land Use Plan Update;I was the RPA representative in the 2011 Neighborhood Partners Program Selection Committee;I performed general data collection, ordinance research and Global Information System (GIS) map production for the department’s projects.

I provided professional expertise, drawing and design skills to landscape architects and engineers in all aspects of the planning, zoning, and the land development process. More specifically I assisted landscape architects and engineers with conceptual development plans, master plans, landscape plans, community impact statements, design guidelines and research of property information pertaining to applicable local, state, and federal ordinances and regulations.
