Dr Sarah Shaw is a Reader in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the Hull University Business School, UK. Her PhD thesis investigated and developed key environmental supply chain performance measures and reporting tools for businesses. Previously, she worked full-time for a leading UK Safety Supplier in a variety of senior supply chain management positions (15 years industry experience). Sarah is a Fellow, Board Director & Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), having served as Chairman of the CILT Humber Group branch for two years. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Sarah was finalist in the Everywoman Newcomer of the Year Award – Transport & Logistics and a finalist in the Junior Chamber Outstanding Young Person’s Award both in 2008. She was also the winner of the prestigious CILT’s Richard McLeish Award for significant advances in her study and career in 2009. Recently she won ‘Leader of the Year’ in the Women in Logistics Awards, 2017 UK, for her voluntary work within the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK, aimed at encouraging young people to work in the logistics sector. She was also a finalist in the Women in Business Awards - Humber, 2018 in the category of ‘Women Breaking Boundaries’. Sarah leads on various multi-disciplinary research projects and has published in a variety of scientific journals. One of her publications was selected by Emerald Group Publishing to appear in "A Focus on Sustainable Supply Chains and Green Logistics", part of ‘Emerald Gems’ which brings together some of the most highly cited, read and innovative research in its field. Sarah has taken the lead for the university and business school in developing a Supply Chain Leader Professional Degree Apprenticeship (SCLDA) for organisations to take advantage of the UK government’s apprenticeship levy. This is helping to address the logistics skills talent gap in the UK. Sarah is now Director of MBA Programmes for Hull University Business School.
