I am fascinated by the intricate world of phage biology, molecular biology, and bacterial genetics. My current research delves into the fundamental biology of phages, exploring how bacterial defense systems exploit the phage life cycle, and how phages can evolve to overcome the defense of their bacterial hosts. This knowledge is crucial for developing novel strategies to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria.To support my research, I have developed and executed new experiments in the lab, including: establishing procedures for working with BSL2 pathogenic strains, developing protocols for evolving bacteriophages, coding pipelines for the download and analysis of large quantities of genomic data from NCBI, and Collecting wastewater for the selection of undiscovered bacteriophages. I believe in the importance of engaging scientific communication and scientific education. This passion led me to mentor three PhD students and one undergraduate student. I have presented my research at 4 conferences, and have been awarded the NSF GRFP Fellowship 2022 and MBG JC Winner 2022.
