I edit, design, and lay out the publications of New York Yearly Meeting, a consortium of Quaker Meetings (churches) in the New York State area. Responsibilities include writing and soliciting articles; creation of themed icons for special sections; taking, collecting, and editing photographs; designing registration forms and tables of information; sending final files to printer. Publications include the bi-monthly printed newsletter Spark and an emailed newsletter, InfoShare. I also produce NYYM's annual reference book, the Yearbook. In addition I maintain the social media accounts for NYYM, including its Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook feeds, and often send out email announcements via MailChimp to the NYYM "global" email list of over 2,000 people. I've trained people in using Zoom for video conferencing. I've also designed several brochures promoting programs offered by the yearly meeting.

I've been a freelance graphic designer since 1999, specializing in print materials, layout, and logo design. Recent clients include the investigative news organization ProPublica, for whom I have designed annual and periodic stakeholder reports and spot illustrations, and Scully's Wonderful Stuff, an all-natural deodorant company for whom I created a brochure and sales materials. I have also occasionally generated ideas and sketches for the Avanti greeting card company. Past clients include Random House Audio Books, for whom I designed hundreds of CD and cassette packages. Other projects include the logo, book jackets and DVD covers for the Jim Evans Umpiring Academy; logo and label design for Olga's Soup Factory, a line of gourmet kosher soups; and the contest-winning logo design for Park Slope Parents, a neighborhood email group and member-created website with over 6,000 members. I often take on volunteer designing projects for Quaker groups and other local non-profits.

Created and implemented systems of templates and style sheets for graphically complex textbooks. Designed state-specific textbook sections, including creation of master illustration elements, photo research, and page layout. Drew original spot illustrations in Illustrator and edited photos in Photoshop. Trained editorial departments in digital manuscript preparation and created a system of Word macros to help them format their copy.
