I stumbled across the ad industry's thriving press scene when I moved to London and got a job as a reporter on Haymarket's Media Week. Later, as a freelance journalist, I supplemented my income with some PR work. Inevitably the deeper pockets of the media owners and agencies vs those of the publishers (particularly during the 2009 financial crisis) meant I ended up in PR full time, finally moving in-house to work with the awesome team at IPG's Initiative. In 2018, with two small children to factor into the equation and hybrid working a less acceptable arrangement than it is today, I set up Flaxley Hill and started to build a portfolio of smaller ad businesses who were after strategic advice and practical help with their PR. A third child and pandemic later I teamed up with the inimitable Ben Robinson and created Flaxley Hill 2.0. With two of us working together we could significantly bolster not only the level of service and expertise we offered but also the scale of businesses we advised.Today we have a fantastic roster of exciting agency groups, independent media and creative agencies and digital media owners and are having the most fun building a PR agency that is founded on friendship, no nonsense and an absolute aversion to working with rude people.
