As a highly qualified, experienced and internationally travelled nurse, I have worked in a multitude of healthcare arenas over the past 35 years. A career in public health nursing has provided me with ongoing opportunities to care and contribute in a dynamic way. I am currently working for Toronto Public Health, in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program, within the Community Health & Well-being Directorate.Prior to this I worked in the Reproductive and Early Years program. Before that, I worked in the Covid-19 Incident Management System, as a Communicable Disease Case Investigator, in the School Response Team. Prior to this, I was in the Child Health and Development Directorate, in the Reproductive and Early Years branch, with particular emphasis on supporting pregnant and breastfeeding mothers within a community setting. I enjoy sharing my expertise with my team members and specifically with my clients, and I work with energetic commitment and dedication. While in New Brunswick, I worked in the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, with particular responsibility for leading a program that supported maternal and child health. I designed and implemented a ten component 18 month child health assessment, two components of which support parent literacy and parent mental health. My MN thesis researched parents' experiences of raising overweight children. I am also an Internationally Certified Lactation Consultant.Other skills:• International Board Certified Lactation Consultant• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team• Concise and clear teaching skills• Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skillsPrevious work experience: • Public Health • Community development • Research Assistant and Teacher Assistant• School health and wellness• Teacher of Biology • Primary Health Care and Community Health Centre• Maternity/midwifery
