Profile bio

About Sarah Al Saeid

I'm currently an MPhil candidate in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Oxford. My research separately explores the realms of Syria and the Gulf, delving into their individual historical trajectories, political identities, and contemporary thought processes. Additionally, my academic inquiry extends to anthropology, where I aim to examine the paradox of "conditional stability" among Syrians in Turkey, exploring how temporary protection status and restricted mobility, particularly in the domains of health and border crossing, framed within the context of necropolitics, contribute to a "double consciousness" and reinforce both dependency and domination.I also hold a position as a Localization, Research, Evidence, and Evaluation Officer at Street Child in London, an international children’s charity. Prior to this, I was with the National CSR Fund, now known as "Majra," a federal arm of the Ministry of Economy in the UAE, working in government relations and delving into various research-centric initiatives. My grounding in research is evident in my career trajectory. During my undergraduate years, I worked for 5 years as a Research Assistant where I subsequently took on the position of a Research Project Supervisor, steering a faculty-funded project at the American University of Sharjah that was led by Dr. Abeer Al-Najjar. In this capacity, I oversaw the work of 7 research assistants spanning both graduate and undergraduate levels.Educationally, I am an alum of the American University of Sharjah, holding a double major in International Studies and Mass Communication (journalism concentration). I also hold a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. I am the College of Arts and Sciences' recipient of the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship for the academic year 2020-2021.

Listed skills include Leadership, Administrative Assistance, Adobe Rush, Human Resources, and 17 others.
