As a graduate (MS) student in the Biomechanical Advancements in Medicine Lab at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, I worked to better understand which patients can benefit most from a combined ACL and lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) procedure. Specifically, I worked to better understand how key surgical decisions made during these procedures affect patient outcomes. I look forward to using my creative problem solving and communication skills to work towards improving patient's lives as a product development engineer.

Graduate Research Assistant - Biomechanical Advancements In Medicine Lab
Sensitivity of Surgical Decisions on Knee Biomechanics During Combined ACLR-LET Procedures- Implemented a wrapping lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) graft into a 12 degree-of-freedom knee model in OpenSim.- Collaborated with an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon at the UW Health University Hospital to identify key surgical parameters of interest during combined anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and LET procedures.- Customized a MATLAB script to systematically vary LET anchor location, LET pre-tension, and knee flexion angle during LET pre-tensioning.- Generated thousands of probabilistic knee models with varying LET parameters and utilized the OpenSim-JAM framework to simulate clinical laxity exams.- Analyzed large data sets to identify sensitivity of key surgical parameters on knee biomechanics.Convergence Study for a Multibody Meniscus Model- Developed multibody meniscus models for integration into a 12 degree-of-freedom knee model using OpenSim.- Generated models with varying meniscus configurations to optimize meniscal-tibial and meniscal-femoral contact patterns without sacrificing computational time.- Conducted in-depth analysis of meniscus kinematics and ligament engagement patterns to establish relationships between different meniscus body configurations.
