I facilitate an after-school success program for high school freshmen who face multiple institutional barriers to academic success, and provide academic and social-emotional support and facilitate goal-setting. My work includes building trusting, supportive relationships with students and families and collaborating with families and the school to ensure student success. I deescalate conflicts among students and advocate for students to teachers, counselors and administrators from a strengths-based lens. I also tutor students, particularly in science, math, and English.

Street Roots is Portland's own street newspaper that acts as both a social change agent and an income opportunity for those experiencing poverty and homelessness in the city. I write mainly features articles about change-makers, social innovators and programs combating social problems in the Portland community.

I developed organization-wide programming structure for postsecondary readiness for ~200 adolescents facing multiple barriers to success. I developed and facilitated student leadership curriculum, coordinated youth programming, planned and managed events, advised students one-on-one, and obtained and maintained organizational partnerships.

I designed marketing materials to engage alumni in Catlin Gabel's network and in events, assisted the Alumni Program Director in event planning, and launched Catlin Gabel Alumni's Instagram account.

I mentored and coordinated a team of about 15 reporters and photographers, assigning stories and making design and content decisions for the news section of the newspaper and website. I helped launch a new digital-first, iterative reporting strategy, and a new online method for story editing.Our newspaper won multiple awards under my direct management, including first place for a news series, second place for a news section, and third place for a news story, in the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association (ONPA) Collegiate Contest, as well as first place for general news reporting in the Society of Professional Journalist's (SPJ) Mark of Excellence contest for small colleges. During my time as news editor, we also won the College Media Association's Pinnacle Award for “Four-Year Weekly College Newspaper of the Year" and first place in SPJ's Mark of Excellence contest for small colleges.

I solicited, managed and edited guest submissions and wrote editorials based on a collaborative editorial board opinion.
