About Sarah Hardy, Ma, Frsa

I'm a driven creative with a background in fashion design and 17-year career in print and digital publishing. I founded a worldwide print magazine in 2008 and have managed and produced film and portrait shoots across fashion and music, from conception through to completion, commissioning writers and photographers around the globe, interviewing talent, writing, and editing features. When my interest turned to screenwriting, I joined the MA in Filmmaking with Raindance, to learn the skills needed to write a feature-length screenplay and negotiated my modules to suit the development of my idea for an LGBTQ+ coming-of-age drama, with a queer female protagonist. I completed the first draft of my script as my final deliverable and am happy to say that I achieved my Master of Arts with Distinction and was also awarded the Best Postgraduate Student Prize!During my studies, I also worked as a Script Reader for the Raindance Script Competition 2021 (rating submissions on voice, concept, story, structure, characters, dialogue, and genre conventions), and helped the Shorts Programming team with pre-selection for the Raindance Film Festival 2023.In addition to my creative work, I am a passionate environmentalist, and founder/cofounder of two not-for-profit initiatives, Anti-Plastic People and In The Drink, that work to eliminate single-use plastic pollution.

  • Disorder Uk Magazine
    Editor-In-Chief
Disorder Uk Magazine Feb 2014 - Oct 2014
    London, United Kingdom
In February 2014 I took on the role of Editor-in-Chief at Disorder UK, to relaunch the renowned publication in print and align the brand cohesively across multi-media platforms. I also undertook the role of Publisher, organising print and distribution to key areas and universities nationwide. In addition to this I managed the music section for print, digital and Disorder TV, organising sessions with the legendary band James (who I also interviewed on film) and artists such as Bipolar Sunshine, The Heartbreaks and Dexters.Against a complete wall of opposition, I also fought tooth and nail to give Catfish & The Bottlemen their first national magazine cover for the second issue (before resigning from the publication). The band went on to become one of the biggest breakthrough acts of 2014. Their debut album went straight into the Top 10, they won the Introducing award at the BBC Music Awards 2014, played the David Letterman show in the U.S. and continue to tour extensively worldwide. “Sarah was brought on board to relaunch Disorder Magazine. She gave 110% to the project and her knowledge of the industry is second to none. Over the years Disorder has been associated with many a great name who have worked on the brand, and I’m pleased to say that Sarah Hardy is one of those. Sarah kept the Disorder signature and made it more appealing to a greater audience on the world stage.” – Davide J Wheller, Founder of Disorder Magazinewww.disordermagazine.com
