I was formerly Ward Clerk for the Medical Assessment Unit at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. The unit won Clinical Team of the Year at the 2015 star awards. I now occasionally return to ward clerking and HCA on a bank staff basis.

I worked as a clerical officer for the health records department at The Royal Blackburn Hospital. I assisted in the health records department by providing an accurate retrieval service of patient case notes across trust sites. I Located and extracted medical case notes for patients attending clinic, and for elective and emergency admissions from all trust departments, sites, other hospitals and offsite storage.

I scheduled and confirmed diagnostic appointments, liaised with consultants and secretaries RE patient queries or to arrange follow ups or expedite forthcoming appointments. I Dealt with incoming calls from patients, healthcare professionals and made external calls on behalf of the practice to external agencies.Locating patient records and re-file after use. Patient deductions and amendments using the EMIS web database. Ensuring hospital letters and lab results were date stamped, scanned and attached to patient records using DOCMAN. Typing up of reports and letters from audio.Greeting and advising patients at reception, booking in and running of Emis web appointments system whilst ensuring a continual flow of patients during surgeries. Ensure clinicians rooms are tidy and presentable before start of surgeries. Advise patients of overdue health checks and direct to appropriate clinics in and out of practice. Organise Dr's paperwork for home visits.Worked through QOF lists and targets set by the practice manager whilst recieving internal/external mail and making sure it is date stamped and placed in relevant pigeon holes. I also dealt with any other admin tasks as set by the doctors I particularly worked for; as well as the usual administrative tasks such as; photocopying, filing, keeping own work area clean and tidy.
