Telling the story of the University of Hull and ensuring our voice is heard by developing and leading an audience focused PR & media engagement strategy. The University is on a journey and the PR & Media team play a critical role in the development of a compelling narrative and brand presence. By making our voice heard across relevant media channels, I am dedicated to building on our brand identity, voice, media outputs and relationships. As a manager of a team of three press officers and a variety of creative agencies, I set and lead the strategic direction of the team, working alongside relevant agencies and partners to ensure that we create, deliver and evaluate sector leading, award-winning PR campaigns that effectively position and promote the University and it’s key objectives.A critical responsibility of my position includes planning and managing any crisis communications activity and the wider external affairs agenda.

A newly created position within the College, I managed the production of all marketing collateral, advertising and media marketing initiatives to ensure that NZTC maintained and grew its competitive advantage. Supporting the College leadership team with communication project plans, my main objective was to ensure NZTC’s highly reputable profile is continually raised nationally and internationally.

In addition to successfully delivering of a portfolio of key events designed to give engage students in business practice, my remit included the management of new student-centre organisations and activities to ensure alignment with the personal development needs of students, in addition to providing guidance around financial prudence and succession planning.Managing the operational delivery of the international case competition programme, I worked with student leads and committee members to successfully showcase the talents of students on a global stage. Involvement in this programme not only forms a vital part of the learning and development of these future business leaders as they work on real life case studies to develop sound business recommendations but enables students to build cross-cultural relationships and experience international cities.

Working for an Economic Development Company, I had exposure across areas of international trade, urban regeneration and tourism. Progressing from PR and communications into marketing allowed me to broaden my creative skills and work more strategically to deliver effective marketing campaigns to gain local support and raise awareness for the city of Hull’s development. I developed a sound understanding of regeneration and economic development practices by working with a range of potential developers, investors and architects.
