Sarah Lucas is a Director of Simpson, Garrity, Innes & Jacuzzi, PC. She has practiced employment and business law for more than two decades. Since 2000, she has focused exclusively on representing employers. She is an experienced litigator, having litigated a wide range of cases in State and Federal Courts, including claims for discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, family medical leave and pregnancy leave violations, trade secret misappropriation, unfair business practices, wage and hour violations, and breach of contract. She has represented employers in civil trials, binding arbitration, and before the state appellate courts. Short of litigation, Ms. Lucas is a persuasive and effective negotiator. Through her direct efforts, many matters have been brought to early, cost effective resolution short of trial or mediation. Ms. Lucas also has extensive experience in responding to administrative complaints filed against employers with the Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) and in representing employers before the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE). Ms. Lucas has also provided comprehensive advice to employers on a wide spectrum of issues, including policies and practices, workplace investigations, employment contracts, discipline and discharge, employee privacy, discrimination, harassment, leaves of absence and wage and hour matters. Ms. Lucas also consults with regard to the drafting and legal review of employee handbooks and drug testing programs.
