Profile bio

About Sarah Poole

I'm a recent graduate at Simon Fraser University, having finished my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Resource and Environmental Management in April 2023. I chose to major in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation because I believe that a foundational understanding is essential to working towards sustainability targets. This knowledge may then foster well-informed decisions regarding sustainable development, and resource and environmental management. I am passionate about environmental planning, ecological restoration and public engagement because I believe these three aspects are deeply intertwined. Environmental planning is vital to the protection of habitats, but neither may occur without effectively connecting with local communities and First Nations. To this challenge, I bring my ability to engage and educate the public of the importance of local heritage and habitats. When I’m not engaging in environmental stewardship activities in my community, you'll often find me running, hiking or kayaking throughout Metro Vancouver.Currently, I'm looking to develop a network of people who are interested in the environmental planning and sustainable development space. I'm exploring planning assistant roles in both municipalities and in the commercial sector. If you have any advice on how to be successful in this space, I would love to connect with you (email: me.sarah88@gmail.com).
