The Fraser River Discovery Centre (FRDC) in New Westminster, BC is run by the non-profit Fraser River Discovery Society. As "The Voice of the Fraser," the FRDC presents the stories of the Fraser River and its contribution to the life, history, and future of British Columbia. We do that from a true sustainability focus, always looking at the balance between the economic, environmental and socio-cultural priorities for the Fraser River. Some of the specific areas include: * 2 floors of interactive information exhibits; * a suite of RiverSchool education programs for students in Grades K - 9 that have been offered to over 20,000 students from more than 500 schools since they began ; * Fraser River First Nations information and exhibits; * public engagement activities to discuss and learn about key issues impacting the mighty Fraser; and * events like RiverFest that celebrate the living, working Fraser River As a non-profit with no core funding, the FRDC relies on a mix of grants, corporate sponsorships and public donations to meet our mandate.
