Sarah McKinnon holds the position of Senior Legal Counsel at IG Wealth Management.Prior to her current role, Sarah was Counsel for TD Bank Group, supporting the TD Wealth businesses. In this role she advised the investment fund manager, portfolio advisers and dealers on regulatory obligations in the structuring, offering and distribution of investment products and the provision of advisory services. She also served as the legal adviser to the bank’s retail distribution channel on its full spectrum of operations, advising clients ranging from frontline staff to senior executives.Prior to joining TD, Sarah was Legal Counsel at Invesco Canada Ltd. Sarah provided strategic legal advice on a variety of legal issues and prepared and amended mutual fund disclosure documents, proxy materials and exemptive relief applications. Sarah worked closely with Invesco's product group to support and expand the product line-up. She also supported back-office transaction processing, the estates and trusts teams and fund accounting, as well as other general corporate functions.Before joining Invesco Sarah was an Associate in the Financial Services Group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP. Her practice focused on corporate finance matters and financial institution regulation. Sarah represented borrowers and lenders in a variety of domestic, cross-border and multi-jurisdictional financing transactions including secured and unsecured financing, project finance, syndicated loans, and equipment leasing. Sarah also advised Canadian and non-Canadian financial institutions on the operation of credit, debit and payment card programs, cost of credit disclosure, payments system issues and compliance matters.Sarah graduated with a J.D. from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. Prior to attending law school, Sarah obtained a B.A. (Honours) in History from the University of Winnipeg.
