I believe that ALL students can learn and thrive. And I believe that all educators and school leaders want to provide the best education for ALL learners. So what do we need to succeed?I can think of a few things…⭐️ Sustainable systems that foster inclusive practices⭐️ High-quality, evidence-based special education⭐️ Support, training, resources, and tools for educators⭐️ Knowledge, mindset, and practices for leaders and administrators to transform how we serve students with disabilitiesAs an educational consultant with nearly 20 years of experience, I started The Ability Challenge—a nonprofit collaborating with small- and medium-sized school districts—because I had a deep hunger to find a new approach and saw a gap in special educational training that needed to be filled. By partnering with schools, districts, and educational networks, we are building anti-ableist schools. Together we actively work to break down attitudes, actions, and circumstances that devalue people because they are disabled or perceived as having a disability. Whereas many school leaders feel motivated to focus on compliance, we support administrators and educators in moving beyond compliance and centering the most diverse learners. It all starts with our THRIVE Framework, which is informed by feedback from over 1,000 educators and leaders nationwide. The schools we work are transforming special education, ensuring that ALL students succeed.By providing services from audits & assessments to educator training to leadership support to tools & resources, we achieve the following outcomes:✅ Students understand what they’re learning and why.✅ Students see improved outcomes and make progress on IEP goals.✅ Schools provide authentically inclusive learning communities and teams that work together to meet the unique needs of all learners.I am proud of what we are building. Our partners see the impact of this inclusive approach to education every day. And we have some big goals for the future. Our biggest goal is to help empower 1 million students by 2045.Would you like to join us in our mission? We are currently looking for new partners, investors, and donors.
