Sarah Payne was accepted as the tech design intern at URBN INC. in 2018. She spent her time in the pattern room learning Optitex. She was then offered a full time position as an assistant technical designer for Free People Sweaters. She spent her days spec-ing garments and taking fit notes. After a year she decided to take time off to finish her degree and obtain a B.A. in Fashion Design. Prior to working as a technical designer Sarah was the VSA for Anthropologie in Wayne,PA. There she assisted in designing and building art installations. That role was a huge learning experience for her as she gained many insights into the world of interior design. When she was not busy doing that she was spending her Januarys and Februarys helping Leanne Marshal Bridal prepare for fashion week. Her tasks included making embellishments and sourcing fabrics. She was even lucky enough to help backstage at NYFW with last minute alterations. Much of Sarah's design philosophy was developed when she studied abroad in Florence, Italy. She learned about a concept called "Bella Figura", that one's outer appearance should reflect their inner appearance. It does not matter if you have beautiful clothes or a beautiful home if your soul is not beautiful as well. Sarah's design philosophy also includes the belief that it is not just about high quality design ideas, but high quality construction. Details should be paid to both. Sarah's experience working in high end fashion, designing ready to wear clothes and building interior spaces for a variety of company's has shaped the designer she is today.
