To this end I have designed and performed experiments analyzing how betaine supplementation impacts oligodendroglial energetics in primary oligodendrocytes, as well as profiled the effect of this pathway on developing oligodendrocytes and their capacity to myelinate under stress. These studies have provided insight to a potential regulatory mechanism that can control oligodendrocyte gene expression under conditions of oxidative stress and promote remyelination of lesions. During my academic career, I had the opportunity to present at several major conferences, TA a variety of relevant courses, and develop a wide range of wet lab skills.
