I'm an experienced arts administrator as well as an educator. My main areas of interest are arts and culture (specifically film, TV, literature and music), languages, cultural policy, and education.Within these fields I am particularly enthusiastic about South Korean culture and language. I have previously lived in Seoul for 3 years working as an English teacher, whilst independently studying Korean (which I continue to do) and writing about Korean pop culture for Seoulbeats.com, and for my own personal blog, www.sarahknowsnothing.com. I have attained TOPIK Level 2 in 2022, and hope to improve on this by taking the test again in 2024. In addition to my passion for South Korean culture, I have a Masters degree in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy from Goldsmiths University of London, where I attained a distinction. This course allowed me to further my knowledge of the policies and practices surrounding governments, as well as organisations, and their cultures. This added to my experience working in administration for a local arts centre, a children's theatre, and an international outdoor arts festival.I am a keen researcher, who always loves to dive into a topic to learn as much as I can. This makes me an avid reader, and consumer of video essays, and has also led me to consider a PhD in the fields of Korean studies. I would like to undertake a comparative analysis of the UK and South Korea's use of culture in nation branding, and am working towards a proposal in this field now. I also love to travel, which in a sense is just the best form of research! I have visited 8 countries and 3 continents this year, and am excited to expand my horizons more in the future.I am a skilled writer and communicator, having worked with one of the most discerning audiences possible (children) in both South Korea, and here in the UK in summer camps and as a teaching assistant.
