As a former co-president of the League of Women Voters in Orange County, Florida, I helped co-found the First 50 Climate Action Coalition led by the League along with local sustainability nonprofit IDEAS For Us and the local chapters of Sierra and the NAACP. The Coalition has grown to a broad cross-section of civic, environmental and social justice groups. We successfully advocated for a planned retirement of Orlando's coal plants by 2027 and a city pledge to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050.
