Research Scientist - Ceramics And Composites Lab
• Invent new ceramic 3D printing formulations and processes from research to pilot scale to enable next generation engine designs via vat polymerization across 3 – 5 projects. • Execute experiments for new suspension formulations to optimize rheology, cure behavior, printability, post processing of ceramic components, and characterization of printed/fired components via SEM, XRD, dilatometry, strength testing, and porosity to reach target material properties. • Apply experimental planning techniques (design of experiments, hypothesis testing) and perform data analytics/visualization and modeling/optimization via Tableau, Excel, and Minitab. • Continue successful multidisciplinary work on ELISAs of blood samples from human subject research trial (rotation 2 below) while juggling other key programs.
Edison Engineer - Ceramics And Composites Lab
• Spearhead new effort to fabricate Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) calcium phosphate scaffolds for bone tissue engineering utilizing ceramic 3D printing.• Conduct frequent literature reviews, and print, post process, and characterize various calcium phosphate materials via surface profilometry, contact angle, SEM, and micro-computed tomography (µCT) for microstructural and mechanical properties of interest.
Edison Engineer - Biosciences Lab
• Synthesis, analytical characterization (HP-LC), and purification (Ion Chromatography) of manganese contrast agent for MRI (product currently in Phase I clinical trial). • Conduct 6-month human research trial with 85 participants to study 10+ biomarkers in response to stress via immunophenotyping and ELISAs. Collection and processing of greater than 10,000 samples (PBMC isolation from whole blood, plasma/serum aliquots) and subsequent bioassay execution.
Edison Engineer - Microsystems Lab
• Lead CAD, fabrication, and testing of integrated technology platform for rapid pathogen identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (ID/AST) using microfluidic principles and downstream fluorescent imaging detection (NIH funded program). • Run process development/benchtop validation experimentations of microscope sample slide holder for multiplexed fluorescent imaging, product currently sold by Cytiva (Cell DIVE).
Biomaterials Graduate R&D Engineer
• R&D of an injectable hydrogel comprised of microporous annealed particles for tissue regeneration and wound healing applications • Experienced with Instron compression testing and excel for data processing and data analytics • Establish relationship between material processing steps and final mechanical properties to define manufacturing specifications and QC standards • 17 - 20 hrs/week
