Vico was established as the leader in the whirlpool bath market especially with pumps. The design and innovation that went into the Wow pump took market share like a storm. It was the right product at the right price at the right time. In 1997, Vico entered the spa market as a component supplier. Within two years, Vico was the #2 pump supplier. Within 5 years, Vico was pushing Aqua Flo for the #1 position with 8 of the top 10 spa manufacturers using the Vico spa pumps. Vico was sold in 2005 to Sta-rite which was consequently sold to Pentair who spun it off to Balboa Group. The Wow pump is still the industry leading pump design with all other competitive pumps a knock-off of it.
