goTeff is a superfood brand making products from an ancient Ethiopian grain called Teff. goTeff's first product is an a superfood crisp that can be enjoyed as a snack, cereal, or topper for yoghurts and salads. goTeff crisps are gluten-free, nut-free, vegan, and have 0 added sugar. In addition to offering long-lasting nourishment, goTeff also partners with girls gotta run, an organization that empowers young girls in Ethiopia, using running as tool to keep them in school.

As the Business Development Associate, I worked with the selected start-up teams in the development of their business plans; including market research and write-up. One of my other major responsibilities was to head the story-telling of the profile of these young founders of the businesses in order to make them accessible to external investors and partners.

As Programme Development Coordinator (PDC), I worked within the Business Development Department at Plan Ethiopia Country Office, in charge of developing high quality and competitive project funding proposals for submission to different external donors. My role involved coordinating input from technical and budget development experts on the specific project for the proposal write-up as well as working with other external partners as needed for the proposal. During my time as PDC, I worked on over 15 different proposals within a range of thematic areas including WASH, Health, Nutrition, Education and Refugee & Migration.

From November, 2015-May,2016, I worked closely with the Addis Ababa Programme Area office in charge of the secondary data collection for an urban assessment research project. The final product was a compilation of secondary data indicative of the child poverty level within Addis Ababa; through the lens of education, health, child protection and economic empowerment. From May 2016-August 2016, I was assigned a different task of collecting data from peer INGOs and NGOs to support the development of Plan's 2017 Country Strategic Plan for the next 5 years. I participated and contributed to the workshop organized for the design of the Country Strategic Plan; along with Plan Ethiopia leadership, as well as Plan International regional and HQ leadership.

I worked as a student assistant/staffer at the Brown University Science Center. The Science Center is a facility that supports teaching and learning in the sciences through mentoring and support programs. In addition to working on the reception desk and processing room reservation requests, I also worked on some individual assignments including collecting advising tallies, working on a research database, and updating the advising booklet for the Science Center.

Organized and taught weekly Amharic (the national language of Ethiopia) lessons to 10 BrownStudents interested in learning about the country and culture.

I was among the student assistants who worked at the ICS Tech Department over the summer. We assisted the employees at the Tech Department with setting up, cleaning up, rebooting and fixing all the computers and laptops throughout the school and got more laptops ready for the 1-to-1 laptop program at the school.
