About Sasha Gibb

A background in art and design has informed a creative attitude to problem solving and an ability to see the bigger picture. This is combined with rigorous data analysis and strategic thinking. Public Realm and Art Consultancy include enabling the Art Strategy 2022 – 25 for Government of Jersey, Public Art and Percentage for Art delivery for developers and mentoring artists and start-ups.Creating links with cultural organisations, government, business and community has contributed to 28 years leading complex public events in the commercial and not for profit sectors. Working with multiple stakeholders has led to an expertise in co-delivery and enabling effective community engagement. Public Voice: Common Ground was a pilot project to explore improving Jersey's public realm through sustainable partnership. Government funding was double matched by business, third sector and community and over 2% population took part in specific public realm engagement. The pilot and its' analysis was presented at British Irish Council, Cardiff, 2023 as an example of best practice in Public Realm and Placemaking. It won ‘Best Placemaking & Community Engagement in the Public Domain’ at the Jersey Design Awards 2024.An experienced facilitator and relaxed communicator stems from a genuine interest in people and co-production - presenting design programs on Radio 4; lectures at Design Centres and museums in US and UK for The World of Interiors Magazine; running events and workshops for British Council, Condé Nast, ArtHouse Jersey and CCA Galleries International.

MISSION:To improve the public realm for people. To make St Helier a place to live, work and dawdle.PURPOSE:• To deliver public realm improvement based on what’s needed. • To lead relevant public engagement that enables this. • To facilitate co-creation and value to all public realm stakeholdersPILOT AIM:For community voice to impact improvements in the public realm. To enable better decision making by all sectors based on specific public engagement methodology and analysis. To illustrate the value of a new commissioning process - commissioning based on solving problems, rather than solutions to problems that may not exist. This to include commissioning support to business and government departments through the creation of an independent Public Art Commission. To illustrate the value of co-production, co-creation and co-delivery- creating momentum and enabling partnerships for longer term, sustainable public realm improvement. For any of this to happen, the model needs to provide value for all of those with a stake in the public realm. Multiple stakeholders are affected by decisions regarding public realm - it cannot be delivered by one sector alone. Understanding the different value this work creates for each sector his has been the foundation of both the research and delivery of the pilot Public Voice: Common Ground.
