About Stephanie Townsend
As a Lead Parks Specialist at South Suburban Parks and Recreation, I apply my knowledge and skills in aquatic toxicology, wildlife management, horticulture, and research and development to protect and enhance the natural resources and ecosystems of the parks and open spaces. I have over three years of experience in conducting original research, sampling and analyzing environmental data, and assisting in field and laboratory work for various projects related to environmental conservation in Colorado.I hold a M.S. in Environmental Toxicology from Colorado State University, where I focused on understanding chemical processes, the transport and fate of toxins in the environment, and risk assessment of pollutants affecting wildlife health and biodiversity. I also have a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Oregon State University and an A.S. in Environmental Science from Scott Community College. Additionally, I have earned certifications in BLS, OCAT, Colorado Dept. of Agriculture pest management and FEMA Incident Command Systems. My goal is to work as a wildlife toxicologist for a non-profit, private, or government organization, researching methods to develop and improve risk assessments, inform natural resource management plans and wildlife management decisions.
