Tech leader for Alexa AI, making Alexa more intelligent through machine learning, engineering, and A/B experimentation. Guided a 140 person org. Increased customer-facing feature delivery while reducing customer perceived defects by leading migration of legacy code to a DNN model system coupled with short-lived declarative rules and robust experimental practices.

Worked on Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), focusing on scalability and cellular architectures. Guided a 70 person org. Led delivery of multiple service migrations in advance of scalability bottlenecks, resulting in years of customer growth headroom. Delivered VPC in-transit encryption in 5 months by simplifying the design and driving cross-team consensus.

Built Hyperplane, the network function virtualization (NFV) platform facilitating delivery of NAT Gateway, Network Load Balancer, Elastic File System and AWS PrivateLink. Key contributor to the project, including NoSQL data storage, continuous deployment microservices, and constant work & shuffle sharding based management of the multi-tenant, distributed system data plane.

Worked on Elastic Load Balancing (ELB). Improved the Java/SQL-based distributed workflows and the data plane placement & scaling, improving reliability and recovery time by an order of magnitude.

Stabilized an outage prone Hadoop cluster for 2x throughput. Co-designed the HW & SW architecture for replacement cluster processing hundreds of GB/day.

Lead for 5 architects guiding scientific algorithm development team. Implemented the difficult or quick turn algorithms.

Lead for 6 person team redesigning and tuning a 180k line scientific C++ program to target SGI & IBM supercomputers processing hundreds of GB/day.
